Job summary

NextGen | GTA: A Kelly Telecom Company is seeking a field technician to inspect worksites and ensure quality standards across projects in our telecommunications and utility maintenance programs.

You will read utility maps and blueprints, operate electronic detection equipment to mark underground utilities, and coordinate with crews and subcontractors while maintaining daily follow-up with subcontractors and addressing customer inquiries.

Qualifications

• Authorized to work in the United States for the company (USC).
• Valid driver’s license.
• Experience in Telecommunications or Utility Construction/Maintenance preferred.
• Experience locating underground utilities and interpreting blueprints.
• Able to read utility maps and blueprints to ensure contract compliance.
• Proficient with computers.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Inspect jobs and/or worksite restoration to ensure quality work performed by employees and subcontractors meets quality expectations, customer standards and contract requirements
• Read and interpret utility maps / prints to identify the type and size of underground utilities
• Operate different electronic detection equipment, to locate and mark under-ground facilities within prescribed accuracy limits
• Contact Subcontractor for follow up on jobs (Daily)
• Coordinate activities with crews, subcontractors, Safety, and field management
• Assist with resolution of customer/homeowner complaints

Job description

• Read and interpret utility maps / prints to identify the type and size of underground utilities
• Operate different electronic detection equipment, to locate and mark under-ground facilities within prescribed accuracy limits
• Contact Subcontractor for follow up on jobs (Daily)
• Coordinate activities with crews, subcontractors, Safety, and field management
• Assist with resolution of customer/homeowner complaints

Who we are looking for:

• Authorized to work in the United States for this company (USC)
• Currently have valid driver’s license
• Prior experience within the Telecommunications or Utility Construction/Maintenance industry (preferred)
• Prior experience with installation/repair/maintenance and the location of underground utilities (preferred)
• Able to read and interpret utility maps to determine the presence of underground utilities, as well as blueprints to ensure work performed is according to contract requirements
• Proficient with computer skills
• Strong written and oral communication skills required
