Job summary

Lyte Fiber is seeking a highly skilled OSP Engineering Permit Specialist to oversee the preparation and acquisition of all permits for fiber network construction and maintenance projects in Texas. This role ensures on-time permitting submissions and approvals for underground and aerial fiber builds, with deep knowledge of encroachment, pole use, and make-ready processes.

The candidate should have expertise in OSP permitting, strong planning and forecasting skills, and the ability to collaborate

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent experience preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Permit specialist or in telecommunications permitting/engineering.
• Ability to travel for business; valid driver’s license with clean record.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Experience with environment, zoning, and right-of-way permitting is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead the permit application process for all OSP projects and ensure timely submission and approvals.
• Research and liaise with local, state and federal agencies for permits and regulatory compliance.
• Prepare and manage permit packages, tracking and addressing issues.
• Perform Make-Ready analysis for aerial routes and review Pole Attachment applications.
• Review pole structures using PLA software and maintain permit records for each project.
• Ensure all permitting requirements are met before construction begins.
• Collaborate with engineering and construction teams to identify permit needs and mitigate delays.
• Provide weekly reports on permitting status and milestones.
