Job summary

Lyte Fiber is seeking an experienced Permitting Specialist to oversee OSP permit preparation and approvals for fiber network construction. You will manage permit packages, coordinate with agencies, and ensure on-time submissions for underground and aerial routes.

The role requires strong planning, forecasting, and collaboration with engineering and construction teams, offering growth within a fast-paced fiber optic company.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years as a Permit specialist.
• 5+ years in telecommunications permitting or engineering.
• Valid Driver’s License with satisfactory driving record.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Ability to work independently with senior engineers and supervisors.
• Expert knowledge of outside plant engineering and telecom products.
• Working knowledge of city/county/DOT/Railroad permit processes.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• AutoCAD or similar tool experience.
• Experience in GIS software (ArcGIS, 3GIS, Vetro Fiber, IQGeo, or similar).

Responsibilities

• Lead the permit application process for all OSP projects with timely submission and approval.
• Research and liaise with local, state and federal agencies to acquire permits and ensure compliance.
• Prepare, track and manage permit packages and applications.
• Identify long lead permit requirements and ensure early submission.
• Perform Make-Ready analysis for aerial routes and review Pole Attachment applications.
• Review pole loading analysis using PLA software.
• Maintain accurate permitting records for each project.
• Ensure environmental, zoning, and right-of-way permits are met before construction.
• Coordinate with OSP engineering and construction teams and external contractors.
• Resolve permit-related issues during planning or construction.
• Attend meetings and provide weekly status updates to management.
