Qualifications

• Experience with critical infrastructure or ITS projects preferred but not required.
• Experience pulling and blowing fiber-optic cable through conduit and duct systems.
• Ability to accurately locate and mark underground fiber-optic cables.
• Experience operating or working from a bucket truck preferred.
• Ability to use cable installation tools and equipment safely and effectively.
• Must be able to work outdoors, travel, work nights, weekends, overtime, and out of town as needed.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a crew.
• Fiber-optic splicing and termination experience a plus.
• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record required.
• Must be able to pass required drug and alcohol testing.

Responsibilities

• Install and maintain outside plant (OSP) fiber-optic cables supporting critical infrastructure, highway communications, and ITS.
• Pull and blow fiber-optic cable through conduit and duct systems using appropriate equipment.
• Dig, trench, backfill to install and repair underground fiber-optic cable.
• Locate and mark underground fibers to identify routes and prevent damage.
• Operate bucket trucks and related equipment safely.
• Assist with splicing, termination, testing, and troubleshooting as assigned.
• Read and follow project plans and supervisor directions.
• Handle cables to prevent damage and inspect tools for safety.
