Qualifications

Job description

TEKsystems is hiring qualified Fiber Optic Technicians for a new Data Center build-out in Memphis, TN. The Fiber Technician will handle all aspects of fiber installation, termination, testing, and splicing.

Cabling & Termination Skills

• Install LC, SC, ST, FC, FDDI, SMA, and MPO/MTP connectors for single-mode fiber
• Terminate simplex and duplex jumper cords
• Terminate and breakout outside plant (single strand / single mode) fiber (e.g., Corning/CommScope)
• Terminate outdoor single-mode fiber
• Understand and/or experience with Splice Matrix
• Test fiber using Fluke Tester
• Basic copper termination skills

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Test using an OTDR, Fluke DTX 1800
• Troubleshoot fiber issues end-to-end and network-wide with OTDR
• Provide all required documentation
• Label according to IES Standards

Splicing Skills

• Perform mechanical and fusion splicing on all types of fiber cable
• Perform building entrance, maintenance space, and direct buried splices

Pay & Benefits

The pay range is $25.00 - $35.00/hr. Eligibility for some benefits depends on job classification and employment length. Benefits may include:
