Qualifications

• Understanding of splicing and termination for fiber cable.
• Experience diagnosing issues with OTDR.
• Knowledge of IES Standards for labeling.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for installing, terminating, testing, and splicing fiber.
• Provide documentation and troubleshooting support.
• Perform mechanical and fusion splicing.

Skills

Install LC, SC, ST, FC, FDDI, SMA and MPO/MTP connectors

Terminate simplex & duplex jumper cord

Basic copper termination skills

Testing fiber using Fluke Tester

TEKsystems is working on a new Data Center build out in Memphis, TN in which we are looking for qualified Fiber Optic Technicians to join their team!

The Fiber Technician is responsible for all aspects of Fiber including but not limited to installing, terminating, testing and splicing.

Cabling & Termination Skills: Must possess the ability to:

• Install LC, SC, ST, FC, FDDI, SMA and MPO/MTP connectors, for single-mode fiber
• Terminate simplex & duplex jumper cord
• Terminate & breakout outside plant (single strand / single mode no Multimode) fiber (e.g. Corning/Commscope)
• Terminate & breakout outside plant
• Terminate outdoor single-mode fiber
• Ability to understand and or experience with Splice Matrix
• Experience testing fiber using Fluke Tester
• Basic copper termination skills
  
  
  

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Test using an OTDR, Fluke DTX 1800

• Troubleshoot using an OTDR to identify and correct problems end to end, and Network wide
• Provide all documentation required
• Label in accordance with IES Standards
  
  
  

Splicing: Must have the ability to:

• Perform mechanical splicing with all types of fiber cable
• Perform fusion splicing with all types of fiber cable
• Perform building entrance splices, maintenance space, and direct buried splices
  
  
  

Pay And Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $35.00/hr.
