Job summary

Cable Services Company, Inc. in Williamsport, PA, seeks a Fiber Splicer to install, splice, and maintain fiber optic systems across a multi-state Northeast region. Project hours vary and overtime is common.

Travel is frequent and overnight stays are required; some shifts occur during overnight hours and weekends on-call for emergencies.

Must have 2 years of fiber splicing experience, a HS diploma or GED, a valid driver's license, and pass pre-employment drug and background checks.

Qualifications

• 2 years of fiber splicing experience.
• HS diploma or GED required.
• Experience in bucket truck at heights 30–40 ft.
• Proficient with fusion splicers, OTDR, optical power meters, fiber identifiers.
• Ability to distinguish colors.
• Experience reading design maps and fiber schematics.
• Must maintain organization and attention to detail.
• Occasionally move materials/equipment up to 80 pounds.
• Positive attitude with strong work ethic.

Responsibilities

• Install, troubleshoot, and maintain fiber optic system.
• Prep and hang fiber optic enclosures, nodes and equipment.
• Route, splice, and terminate fiber in racks at central offices or buildings.
• Perform fusion splicing per project direction.
• Read design maps and fiber schematics.
• Operate aerial lift and related equipment.
• Be on-call for emergency restoration.
• Complete required documentation (timesheets, reports).
• Manage company vehicle, tools, and equipment.
