Job summary

Rocky Mountain Contractors, Inc. seeks a skilled line splicer to safely repair and install overhead and underground communication lines in Montana. You will work in tight spaces, read diagrams, and ensure proper insulation and moisture protection while following safety rules.

CDL/medical certifications may be required or pursued after hire. The role emphasizes independent work, precise reporting, and strong adherence to DOT/OSHA guidelines, with on-site duties and potential union affiliation

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED or equivalent.
• 5 years prior experience in splicing communication lines.
• Willingness to obtain or maintain DOT/medical/fir certs as required.

Responsibilities

• Accurately and thoroughly performs splicing of communication lines throughout the area served.
• Performs work and handles tools following safety rules and practices.
• Interprets specifications and diagrams to correctly connect lines; insulates, sleeves, and moisture-proofing.
• Barricades on public rights-of-ways when required; uses signs and flagging devices.
• Completes Tailboards, Service Orders, Accident Reports, Interruption Reports as assigned.
• Maintains communication with supervisor regarding assignments, problems, and questions.
• Maintains and inspects trucks and equipment; performs daily inspections.
• Responds to duty calls day or night to restore service.
• Willing to perform all duties for all positions in the crew.
• Performs additional duties as assigned.
