Job summary

Bluebird Fiber is seeking an Outside Plant Engineer to join our Midwest telecom team in Milwaukee, WI. This full-time, benefit-eligible role focuses on planning, designing, and maintaining the fiber OSP network, including staking, costing, permitting, and contractor coordination.

You will manage route documentation, perform cost estimates, ensure permits are obtained, and create as-built records while collaborating with customers, vendors, and regulators to uphold our network standards.

Qualifications

• OSP route planning and construction management knowledge.
• Regular hours 8:00AM–5:00PM Mon–Fri; may vary by project.
• Valid state driver’s license with clean record.
• Self-motivated and highly productive.
• Strong oral and written communications; organized and coordinated.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain OSP records and support Operations.
• Provide route proposals and cost estimates; stake routes.
• Oversee construction per design; secure permits and rights-of-way.
• Create final as-built documentation; update One-Call databases.
• Represent Bluebird on OSP issues with DOTs and locate centers.
• Plan, design, maintain, and protect Bluebird’s optical backbone network.
• Collaborate with customers, contractors, and vendors; project professionalism.
