Job summary

Peyton Resource Group in Janesville, WI is hiring an experienced Fiber Splicer for a telecommunications infrastructure project. This is a hands-on field position focused on fiber fusion splicing, testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance.

The ideal candidate has experience with fiber optic systems in aerial or underground environments and is comfortable using fiber testing equipment. On-site work includes safety, documentation, and collaboration with construction crews and project leadership.

Qualifications

• Hands-on fusion splicing experience.
• Experience with fusion splicers, OTDRs and power meters.
• Knowledge of telecom construction and fiber optic systems.
• Ability to read maps, prints, and schematics.
• Willingness to travel.

Responsibilities

• Perform fusion splicing of single-mode and multi-mode fiber.
• Prepare, splice, and test fiber optic cable.
• Read and interpret fiber matrices, splice schematics, utility maps, and construction prints.
• Perform OTDR and power meter testing.
• Troubleshoot fiber-related network issues and outages.
• Install and maintain fiber enclosures, splice cases, terminals, and related hardware.
• Maintain accurate splice documentation and testing records.
• Work with construction crews, project managers, and field leadership.
• Safely operate company vehicles and equipment.
• Participate in on-call and emergency restoration work as needed.
• Follow all company, customer, and job-site safety requirements.
