Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Perform fusion splicing of single-mode and multi-mode fiber.
• Prepare, splice, and test fiber optic cable.
• Read and interpret fiber matrices, splice schematics, utility maps, and construction prints.
• Perform OTDR and power meter testing.
• Troubleshoot fiber-related network issues and outages.
• Install and maintain fiber enclosures, splice cases, terminals, and related hardware.
• Maintain accurate splice documentation and testing records.
• Work with construction crews, project managers, and field leadership.
• Safely operate company vehicles and equipment.
• Participate in on-call and emergency restoration work as needed.
• Follow all company, customer, and job-site safety requirements.

Responsibilities

• Perform fusion splicing of single-mode and multi-mode fiber
• Prepare, splice, and test fiber optic cable
• Read and interpret fiber matrices, splice schematics, utility maps, and construction prints
• Perform OTDR and power meter testing

Qualifications

• Previous fiber splicing experience preferred
• Hands‑on fusion splicing experience
• Experience using fusion splicers, OTDRs, and power meters
• Knowledge of telecommunications construction and fiber optic systems
• Ability to read maps, prints, and schematics
• Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills
• Valid driver's license required
• High school diploma or GED required
• CDL preferred but not required
• Industry certifications are a plus
• Willingness to travel as needed

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift and carry up to 75 lbs.
• Ability to climb ladders and work in confined spaces
• Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and work for extended periods
• Ability to distinguish color‑coded fiber cables

This is an on‑site outdoor field position. Work may involve varying weather conditions, evenings, weekends, overtime, travel, on‑call rotations, and emergency restoration.

Compensation: $22–$35/hour, based on experience and qualifications.
