Glass Roots Construction (GRC) is seeking a Fiber Optic Foreman for the Portland, OR area. You will lead underground and aerial fiber projects, manage crews, and ensure safety and on-time delivery while coordinating with clients and inspectors.

The role requires 75% travel, CDL preferred, and proficiency in blueprints and fiber blowing/pulling equipment. Competitive hourly pay ($30–$38) with day and night shifts.

Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Licensing: A valid Driver’s License; CDL preferred.
  • Experience: Leading field crews in telecommunications or underground utility construction.
  • Technical Skill: Reading blueprints and operating fiber blowing/pulling equipment.
  • Availability: Travel 75% of the time and on-call for emergencies.

Responsibilities

  • Crew Leadership: Lead underground and aerial crews in blowing fiber, pulling innerduct conduits, and installing cabling. Manage daily assignments and path planning.
  • Equipment Mastery: Operate, maintain, and train crews on specialized machinery including Super Jets, Micro Jets, capstan wheels, air compressors, and hydraulic reel trailers.
  • Project Oversight: Interpret construction plans/blueprints to ensure projects meet precise specifications and safety standards.
  • Safety & Compliance: Direct traffic per DOT guidelines. Oversee health and safety programs to ensure 100% compliance with state, local, DOT, and OSHA requirements.
  • Operations Management: Maintain accurate records of production, materials, and job progress. Provide detailed forecasts and updates via Vero’s proprietary project management platform.
  • Network Maintenance: Perform utility locates, route drives, and provide 24/7 emergency response support for network repairs.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Act as the primary field contact for clients, permitting agencies, and DOT/OSHA inspectors.

We are looking for a skilled Fiber Optic Foreman local to the Portland, OR area. This position represents an opportunity to join an elite team, manage high-stakes underground and aerial projects, and grow alongside GRC.   • Exceptional leadership skills with a focus on "leading from the front".

  • CDL (Class A)


Additional Information


Hourly Range: $30 - $38 Hourly, based on experience
