Job summary

Glass Roots Construction (GRC) is seeking a Directional Drill Operator local to Samoa, CA. You will report to the Construction Manager and join a growing team, gaining valuable field experience on utility excavation projects.

The role requires 1 year of directional drill experience, a CDL A, and a valid driver's license with on-call and weekend availability. Travel and overtime may be required; the position offers competitive hourly pay and a day/evening schedule.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment on construction sites in a safe, efficient manner.
• Run directional drill and other equipment (Backhoe/Excavator, Skid Steer, Tractor Trailer, Vacuum Truck) as needed.
• Set up and maintain boring schedules; handle site setup and cleanup.
• Load/unload tools, materials and equipment; follow Job Safety Analysis before starting work.
• Follow safety perimeters with signage, cones and barriers; flag traffic when required.
• Occasionally work overtime, nights, weekends or be on-call to ensure project completion.

The Opportunity

We are seeking skilled Directional Drill Operators who are local to the Samoa,CA area. This position reports to the Construction Manager and offers an opportunity to join a strong, collaborative team at an early stage of growth, gain valuable experience, and contribute to the continued expansion of GRC.

Responsibilities

• Position consists of general heavy equipment operation for construction
• Drilling equipment operators can operate a variety of equipment, used in installation/repair/maintenance activities associated with underground construction or utilities, in a safe and effective manner
• Safely operates drill equipment on the job site which may include but is not limited to the following: Directional Drill, Backhoe/Excavator, Skid Steer, Tractor Trailer (Moving Equipment / Haul Water), Vacuum Truck/Trailer
• Restores and/or landscapes disturbed areas of the job site
• Will develop and maintain a boring schedule
• Responsible for the site set-up and clean-up
• Load and unload tools, materials, and equipment on the truck
• Will be involved in new site Job Safety Analysis - JSA prior to starting construction
• Setting up safety perimeter using signage, cones, and safety barriers and at times flagging traffic
• May be required to work overtime; after hours; on weekends, for emergencies or be on-call as work is needed to ensure work is completed
• Ability to follow instructions

Required Qualifications

• Directional Drill Operating: 1 year experience
• CDL A
• A valid driver's license is required for most positions
• On-call and weekend availability

Preferred Qualifications

• Falcon F5 experience preferred
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
• Strong written and verbal communications skills
• Understanding of basic utility construction processes and terminology a plus

Additional Information

Hourly Range:$25 - $33 Hourly, based on experience

Schedule: Day Shift, Monday - Friday & Night Shift, Sunday - Thursday

Travel Requirements: 100%
