Job summary

Hunter Communications is hiring an Engineering Field Technician to join our field operations in Central Point, Oregon. You will train and work with outside plant engineers, GIS technicians, and project managers to support our fiber optic network buildouts and service delivery.

The role requires fieldwork, 40-hour weeks, travel and occasional overnight stays, and on-call responsiveness. You’ll gain hands-on experience in construction, installation, and network engineering while growing your

Qualifications

Must be able to lift and carry tools over 20 lbs.
Able to lift up to 100 lbs for vault/manhole lids.
Detail oriented and professional in conduct.
Familiar with Windows-based computers and MS Office.
Able to walk on outdoor terrain in all weather conditions.

Responsibilities

Perform in-person utility pole and attachment inspections using tools and surveys.
Enter data into predefined forms and report observations clearly.
Locate and mark Hunter-owned underground plant with detection tools and maps.
Coordinate with cross-department teams to gather and relay information.
Inspect Hunter-owned assets and report status with recommendations.
Engage with the public to gain access to easements and explain project needs.
Work outdoors in all weather and terrain conditions.
Support engineering with fielding requests, serviceability, and permitting.
