Job summary

Hunter Communications in Central Point, Oregon, is seeking a Field Engineering Technician to join our Engineering team. You’ll work with outside plant engineers, GIS technicians, and project managers to gather data and help build our fiber optic network for homes and businesses in the Central Point area.

The position is full-time, Monday–Friday, 40 hours with overtime and on-call duties as needed. Travel to other Hunter service areas and training-related trips are expected during onboarding.

Qualifications

• Ability to lift and carry tools exceeding 20 lbs.
• Ability to lift up to 100 lbs for lids and vaults.
• Detail oriented and professional in conduct.
• Valid driver’s license; pre-employment drug screen and MVR check.
• Willingness to travel 20% of the time.
• Comfort working outdoors in all weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Inspect utility poles and attachments using multiple tools.
• Enter collected data into predefined forms and report observations clearly.
• Locate and mark Hunter-owned underground assets.
• Coordinate with cross-department teams to manage priorities and data collection.
• Inspect Hunter-owned assets and report status and actions needed.
• Communicate with the public to obtain access and explain work value.
• Work outdoors in varying weather and terrain.
• Assist engineering with fielding requests, serviceability, and permitting.
