Job summary

Esi Electrical Contractors, Inc. is seeking a skilled Fiber Optic Cable Splicer (Includes Copper) to safely repair or install overhead and underground lines in Billings, MT. The role requires 5 years of splicing experience and a strong commitment to safety.

Eligibility for the Montana IBEW union and related certifications may apply. Responsibilities include accurate splicing, reading diagrams, and following job plans, with on-call duties to restore service promptly.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED or equivalent.
• 5 years prior experience in the skill of splicing communication lines.

Responsibilities

• Accurately and thoroughly performs splicing of communication lines throughout the area served by the organization. Knowledge of splicing both fiber optic as well as copper lines required.
• Performs all work and handles all tools in accordance with accepted safety rules and practices relating to the trade.
• Interpret specifications and diagrams to properly connect lines as required by the job plans. Insulates new joints and fits with lead sleeves. Applies cable sheathing to repel moisture.
• When appropriate, barricades on public highways and public right-of-ways to include proper use of warning signs and flagging procedures.
• Accurately and legibly completes Tailboards, Service Orders, Accident Reports, Interruption Reports, etc.
• Maintains ongoing, effective communication with direct supervisor regarding the specifics of each assignment and any hazards.
• Maintains and properly uses all trucks, equipment, and tools assigned to him/her.
• Responds to duty calls day or night, seven days a week, to correct the problem and restore service.
• Be willing to perform all duties for all positions in the crew to meet requirements and deadlines.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
