Job summary

Rocky Mountain Contractors, Inc. seeks a skilled splicer to safely repair or install overhead and underground communication lines across Montana.

The role requires handling fiber optic and copper splices, reading specifications, and adhering to safety standards while coordinating with the Montana IBEW contract. The candidate should have a high school diploma or GED and at least five years of splice experience, with CDL, DOT medical, and CPR certifications preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED or equivalent.
• 5 years prior experience in the skill of splicing communication lines.
• Current Class A CDL or willingness to obtain.
• Current DOT Medical Exam card or willingness to obtain.
• Current First Aid/CPR certification or willingness to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Accurately and thoroughly performs splicing of communication lines throughout the area.
• Knowledge of splicing both fiber optic as well as copper lines required.
• Interprets specifications and diagrams to properly connect lines; insulates joints and applies cable sheathing.
• Barricades on public highways and rights-of-way with warning signs and flagging procedures.
• Completes Tailboards, Service Orders, Accident Reports, Interruption Reports, etc.
• Maintains ongoing communication with supervisor regarding assignments and hazards.
• Inspects trucks and equipment daily and maintains tools in safe working order.
• Responds to duty calls day or night, seven days a week, to correct problems or restore service.
• Willing to perform all duties for all crew positions to meet deadlines.
• Performs additional duties as assigned.
