Job summary

Omni Fiber is seeking an Engineering Planner to own upfront, market-level planning before handoff for detailed design. You will establish feeder routes, cabinet locations, and FDH boundaries, ensuring a grounded plan ahead of vendor engagement and reducing rework.

This full-time role involves collaboration with GIS, Market Engineering Leads, and vendors, with travel as needed for market reconnaissance and business planning.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of engineering experience in FTTH/fiber, telecom, or market analysis.
• Experience in OSP/fiber network planning, feeder design, or GIS-based market analysis.
• Proficiency with GIS/Esri and CAD-based planning tools; VETRO a plus.
• Strong written documentation skills and ability to translate data into plans.
• Must have and maintain a valid driver's license and willingness to travel.

Responsibilities

• Establish feeder routes, active cabinet locations, and FDH boundary structure for new and re-opened markets.
• Incorporate field reconnaissance with terrain and access constraints into initial planning.
• Partner with GIS to validate boundary and feeder data before market release.
• Produce high-level design packages defining FDH boundaries and feeder logic.
• Package and hand off validated market plans with design intent and constraints documented.
• Flag jurisdictional, access, or terrain risks during planning before detailed design.
• Apply Omni's planning standards across markets including cabinet sizing and spare capacity.
• Document planning decisions and rationale in the system of record.
• Coordinate with Business Development and backhaul/network teams for alignment.
• Provide planning-level context to the Director of Market Engineering and leads.
