Job summary

Limiting Factor Group designs, builds and manages power infrastructure for compute systems and utility providers. The Fiber Engineer designs fiber routes outside and inside buildings, coordinating with carriers to ensure multiple reach paths and compliant installations.

You will produce splice diagrams, specify cables and enclosures, and oversee contractors while ensuring test results meet project standards. Travel to sites and meet-me rooms are required as projects expand.

Qualifications

• 5+ years designing fiber networks.
• Knowledge of single-mode fiber, loss budgets and OTDR testing.
• Experience with GIS or AutoCAD for route design.
• Knowledge of TIA-568, TIA-942 and BICSI standards.
• Experience managing fiber construction contractors.

Responsibilities

• Design fiber routes outside and inside the buildings: conduit, duct banks, meet-me rooms and cross-connects.
• Work with carriers and dark fiber providers to bring service to each site over physically separate routes.
• Produce splice diagrams and keep fiber records current.
• Specify cable, connectors and enclosures.
• Oversee fiber contractors, review their test results and accept completed work.
• Obtain permits and rights-of-way for fiber builds with Legal and the Civil Engineer.
• Plan fiber capacity as customers and carriers are added.
