Job summary

Summit Truck Bodies, a division of Transwest, is seeking a laser operator for our manufacturing facility in Wathena, Kansas. The role involves setting up and operating a fiber laser, reading detailed instructions, and ensuring parts meet specifications.

You will document actions, maintain a safe work area, and participate in continuous improvement initiatives. This position requires physical endurance and adherence to safety protocols in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Driver’s License with an MVR in good standing.
• Must have basic knowledge and understanding of fabrication machines and tools.
• Ability to efficiently use various hand and power tools.
• Ability to read gauges and other measurement tools.
• Ability to do simple math calculations.
• Keen attention to detail is required.
• Ability to work with multiple priorities and constant interruptions.
• Basic communication skills, both written and oral.
• Ability to operate a forklift and overhead crane.
• Ability to successfully pass a General Abilities Assessment and Post-offer background check, physical and drug screening.

Responsibilities

• Sets up, adjusts and operates Fiber Laser.
• Reads and interprets detailed instructions to produce the desired form.
• Verifies conformance of work piece to specifications using measuring tools.
• Documents actions by completing production and quality forms.
• Maintains a clean and safe work area and wears required PPE.
• Participates in continuous improvement programs by offering suggestions and initiative.
• Other duties as assigned by the manager.
