Job summary

ILAN Builders in North Carolina is seeking a Fiber I&R Technician to install, maintain, and repair fiber optic systems for residential and commercial customers.

This role requires owning tools, a vehicle with a ladder rack, and the ability to lift up to 80 lbs, plus strong communication and teamwork. Production-based pay is offered for long-term projects with rates provided upon resume submission.

Qualifications

• Fiber optic internet and home phone service experience required.
• Own truck/van/SUV with ladder rack and own tools.
• Must have a fiber splicer.
• Smartphone and Laptop with Excel required.
• Lift up to 80 lbs unassisted.
• Effective communication and multitasking abilities.
• Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills.
• Background check, MVR, and drug test required.
• Ability to work overtime and on weekends when needed.

Responsibilities

• Installation, maintenance, and repairing of fiber optic systems for residential and commercial customers.
• Ensuring adequate performance of internet, phone and TV services.
• Complete pre-install work order and post-install service verification and customer education to ensure customer satisfaction.
• Place aerial or buried fiber optic drops and install interior and exterior wiring.
• Mark proposed drop paths for jobs needing BSW.
• Hand dig microduct from terminal to nid.
• Observe all safety rules and OSHA regulations.
• Work at heights by using/setting up ladders.
• Work in confined spaces.
• Teamwork - Assist other technicians in the performance of their duties when requested.
• Convey a positive and professional appearance and demeanor when communicating the company's products and services to customers.
• Adapt to new processes and information frequently.
• Use internal systems for work order notation and time keeping.
• Keep customer appointments.
• Maintain minimum acceptable metrics with Repeats, Productivity, and Completions.

• Smartphone and Laptop (With Microsoft Excel) are required.
• Lift up to 80lbs unassisted.
• Effective communication skills and ability to multi-task.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and teamwork.
• Must pass background check, MVR screen, and drug test.
• Must be accountable and dependable.
• Must have the ability to work overtime and on weekends depending on the needs of the customer.
• Have an ability to take input from customers, supervisors, leads and co-workers to problem solve and improve skills.

Compensation

We are looking for the best of the best for this long-term project. The pay is production based. Rates will be provided upon resume submission.
