Job summary

M.C. Dean, Inc. is seeking a Communications Technician 1 to plan, lay out, and install new and retrofit communications equipment for projects. You will conduct site surveys, pull cables, terminate and test copper and fiber to high standards, and install ancillary systems.

The role requires reading plans, training apprentices, and ensuring safety and quality across installations. Travel within the United States and international work opportunities may be involved.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• Must be 18 years of age
• Must have reliable transportation to and from the jobsite
• Demonstrated experience and ability to read and understanding plans and specifications
• Must have a valid driver's license to be able to operate equipment

Responsibilities

• Installation of Category rated copper and fiber optic cable
• Terminating and testing of horizontal copper cabling
• Terminating fiber optic cable via anaerobic, mechanical and fusion splicing
• Read and understand plans and specifications
• Mentor apprentices

Skills

Travel willingness (6 months/year)

Cat6/Cat6A & fiber termination

Read and interpret drawings

Structured Cabling experience
