Job summary

Abacus Technology Corporation is a Federal government contractor providing IT services and solutions. We seek a field technician to install and maintain copper and fiber network cabling in client environments, ensuring reliable voice and data transmission for diverse government projects.

Responsibilities include connector installation, testing with LAN and fiber equipment, reading technical drawings, and coordinating with other teams to support maintenance activities while complying with safety

Qualifications

• 1+ year of installation and maintenance for copper and fiber cables supporting voice and data networks.
• Experience with LAN/WAN and telecommunications networks.
• Understanding of basic electronics, fiber optics and light wave transmissions.
• Ability to read technical drawings including infrastructure design and splicing diagrams.
• Familiar with test equipment and cable testing procedures.
• Knowledge of safety precautions related to cable splicing.
• Able to crawl under/behind customer work environments to access systems.
• Must lift up to 30 pounds unassisted and perform climbs when needed.
• US citizen; eligible for government security investigation.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and install connectors for LANs and automated communications systems.
• Use LAN testers, fiber testers, and other continuity testers.
• Create and maintain databases and modify program contents for new data.
• Coordinate with other departments to perform maintenance tests and interface with equipment.
• Review, update, and generate documents supporting the communication systems.
