Surf Internet is seeking a Construction Manager to oversee daily operations of all assigned fiber construction sites at the Troy Grove office in Illinois. The role requires managing on-site resources, coordinating schedules, and ensuring safety and compliance with project standards.

The position reports to the Director of Construction Management within the OSP Construction department and is exempt. Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills are essential to succeed in this role.

Qualifications

• 5 years of civil construction management experience preferred.
• Proficiency in CAE and CAD applications preferred.
• Proficient at taking and uploading digital photographs.
• Ability to lift 40 pounds and operate heavy equipment.
• Ability to interpret drawings, specifications and other documents.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Outstanding organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead on-site construction resources, internal and external.
• Communicate daily with project managers on site progress.
• Coordinate and oversee all work on site.
• Attend construction meetings and liaise with inspectors.
• Communicate with the public regarding construction concerns per property.
• Assess feasibility of fiber designs at potential sites.
• Track project progress in project management tools.
• Review schedules and budgets; ensure adherence to timelines.
• Maintain safety, cleanliness and order on site.
• Maintain site personnel records and liaise with authorities.

Theduties of a construction manager will vary, however, this role can expect to be responsible fordaily scheduling, supervising all construction related activities and tasks, and ensuring thesafety and compliance of the site.

Responsibilities

• Leading and managing the on-site construction resources - both internal andexternal
• Communicate daily with relevant project managers regarding progress onassigned sites
• Coordinating and overseeing all work on site
• Attending construction meetings
• Communicate with the public as necessary regarding construction concernspertaining to their property (i.e. lawn damage)
• Walk potential construction sites to ensure the feasibility of fiber designs andidentify possible challenges
• Tracking project progress in project management tools as appropriate.
• Reviewing and becoming familiar with the schedule and budget, and ensuringadherence to these
• Ensuring quality standards are met
• In cooperation with purchasing team, ensuring adequate quantities and timing ofnecessary equipment and materials, and being responsible for said equipmentand materials on site
• Following the project timeline to ensure deadlines are met
• Monitoring and ensuring on-site safety compliance, cleanliness and orderliness
• Maintaining records for site personnel
• Liaising with inspection authorities regarding approvals
