Job summary

HNM Systems in Indianapolis seeks an experienced Fiber Construction Manager to oversee fiber placement, jetting, and splicing for a major telecommunications infrastructure program across Central Indiana.

You will manage Construction Supervisors, coordinate subcontractors, track safety, quality, and production, and ensure on-time project delivery. Strong outside plant experience, vendor management, and ability to lead multi-site field operations are required.

Qualifications

  • Experience managing telecommunications, fiber, or outside plant construction projects.
  • Strong knowledge of fiber construction, underground construction methods, and fiber placement activities.
  • Experience supervising field personnel, construction supervisors, subcontractors, or vendors.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction prints, maps, engineering drawings, and design documents.
  • Understanding of field production tracking, quality control, and construction reporting.
  • Experience managing vendor performance and project schedules.
  • Strong problem-solving and issue-resolution skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and project-reporting tools.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Ability to pass required background screening and drug testing.
  • Authorization to work for any U.S. employer without sponsorship now or in the future.

Responsibilities

  • Manage Construction Supervisors supporting fiber construction activities.
  • Oversee subcontracted fiber placement, fiber jetting, and fiber splicing vendors.
  • Review construction plans, design maps, prints, schedules, and project requirements.
  • Monitor field production, quality, safety, and overall project performance.
  • Manage vendor performance and ensure compliance with project requirements.
  • Coordinate solutions for blocked conduit, pathway issues, dig-ups, repairs, and field challenges.
  • Ensure fiber installation and splicing activities remain on schedule.
  • Track daily production and provide reporting to management.
  • Participate in customer meetings and project status calls.
  • Hold supervisors and subcontractors accountable for quality, safety, and production expectations.
  • Implement quality control processes and identify opportunities for operational improvement.
  • Escalate project risks, delays, and technical concerns to leadership.
  • Coordinate with engineering, operations, field personnel, and technical experts as needed.
  • Build and maintain productive working relationships with customers, vendors, and project stakeholders.
  • Assist in resolving field issues impacting construction progress.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Overview

Our customer is seeking an experienced Fiber Construction Manager to oversee fiber placement, fiber jetting, and splicing construction activities supporting a major telecommunications infrastructure program throughout Central Indiana.

This leadership role is responsible for managing Construction Supervisors, coordinating subcontractors, ensuring production goals are met, and maintaining high standards for safety, quality, and customer satisfaction.

The ideal candidate brings strong outside plant (OSP) or fiber construction experience, proven vendor management capabilities, and the ability to successfully lead complex field operations across multiple active work sites.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage Construction Supervisors supporting fiber construction activities.
  • Oversee subcontracted fiber placement, fiber jetting, and fiber splicing vendors.
  • Review construction plans, design maps, prints, schedules, and project requirements.

  • Familiarity with fiber jetting operations and underground pathway management.
  • Field-based construction leadership position.
  • Travel throughout Central Indiana is required.
  • Candidates located near Indianapolis or Fort Wayne are strongly preferred.
