Job summary

Lenoir City Utilities Board is seeking a Fiber Construction Coordinator to bridge office planning and field execution for its fiber network across Lenoir City, Loudon County, Farragut, and West Knoxville. The role involves tracking workflows, permits, contractor resources, and build quality, with emphasis on scheduling, communication, and data entry in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to read color-coded construction prints, schematics, and splice documentation.
• Proficiency with Microsoft 365, QuickBase, Smartsheets.
• 1–2 years in a construction or operations environment.
• 1–2 years experience in fiber optic outside plant environments (aerial or underground).

Responsibilities

• Create and manage construction jobs in QuickBase.
• Organize daily activities for in-house crews and external contractors.
• Prepare work packages by submitting permits and documentation.
• Communicate with governing bodies, businesses, and residents about construction process.
• Submit permits and maintain regulatory approvals for active work areas.
• Perform pre-construction site walks to identify potential utility conflicts.
• Issue design blueprints to crews according to project schedule.
• Act as liaison between crews and management staff.
• Generate and distribute materials requestion sheets to the warehouse.
• Verify construction quality and adherence to design.
• Respond to damage claims and coordinate restoration efforts.
• Verify redlines are received and accurate before submittal to engineering.
• Participate in paid standby / on-call rotation (typically 1 week per month or less).
