Job summary

Optical Cable Corporation in Roanoke, VA is seeking a Cabler Operator to set up, run, and monitor 36” to 64” cabling equipment for fiber optic cable manufacturing. You will read setup sheets, adjust machines, and ensure materials are prepared for production.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; six months related experience preferred.
• Mechanical aptitude with ability to operate a machine in production.
• Ability to read and follow basic instructions and understand quality procedures.
• Math and handwriting skills required; ability to complete documentation.
• Ability to work in a team with minimal supervision.
• Ability to operate a forklift.

Responsibilities

• Reads the set-up sheet and uses the product code to determine the product and material requirements.
• Sets up, runs, and monitors cabling lines for standard products.
• Sets up and runs a respooling machine to respool fillers.
• Observes and inspects products to ensure conformance with specifications.
• Completes all documentation specific to this job function.
• Cleans equipment to prevent contamination.
• Identifies defects and helps resolve problems or informs supervisor.
• Adheres to safety procedures and guidelines.
