Job summary

Optical Cable Corporation is seeking an entry-level production operator in Roanoke, VA to set up, run and monitor cabling equipment used for fiber optic cable manufacturing. You will read set-up sheets, adjust machines, perform quality checks and complete documentation in a fast-paced environment. The role requires basic math, the ability to lift up to 50 lbs, and teamwork with supervision and safety compliance.

Overtime and shift considerations may apply, with typical 6:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.

Qualifications

: High school diploma or GED required or equivalent; basic math, handwriting and documentation skills.
: Ability to read and follow basic instructions and quality procedures.
: Demonstrated ability to operate a machine in a production environment; attention to detail.
: Ability to work in a team with minimal supervision; communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

Reads set-up sheets and uses product codes to determine product to be manufactured and material requirements.
Sets up, runs and monitors cabling lines for standard products.
Operates respooling machine to respool fillers.
Inspects products at various production stages and ensures conformity to set-up specifications.
Completes all job documentation accurately.
Cleans equipment to prevent contamination.
Identifies defects and helps resolve problems with supervisor if needed.
Adheres to safety procedures and policies.
