Job summary

Antietam Broadband in Hagerstown, MD is seeking a Maintenance & Communications Technician to install, maintain, and troubleshoot broadband, CATV, and fiber-optic systems for residential and commercial customers. This full-time role requires 3–5+ years in telecom, RF/IP tech, and fiber splicing; duties include on-site service, testing with OTDR, fiber drops, and educating customers on equipment.

Candidates must lift up to 75 pounds, hold a HS diploma or GED, and have a valid driver's license;

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 3–5+ years in broadband, CATV, fiber optics, telecommunications, or related field.
• Advanced knowledge of RF and IP technologies.
• DOCSIS 3.1 experience preferred.
• Experience with optical/test equipment: OTDR, Optical Power Meter, Optical Spectrum Analyzer.
• Hands-on fiber splicing, terminals, and distribution systems.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair broadband, CATV, and fiber-optic systems.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on BB/CATV and HFC plant.
• Troubleshoot outages and customer service issues.
• Install fiber drops, interior fiber wiring, ONTs, and customer equipment.
• Perform fiber splicing for new construction, maintenance, and activation.
• Conduct testing, balancing, and power supply maintenance.
• Educate customers on services and upgrades.
