Job summary

GCS Recruitment is seeking a highly skilled Fiber Analyst to support technicians and engineers remotely. The role focuses on fiber characterization, OTDR validation, and remote remediation within ISP and OSP environments.

You will prepare test packages, manage project timelines, and collaborate with vendors and internal teams to deliver high-quality results. This is a remote, senior-level engagement with emphasis on accurate reporting and problem resolution.

Qualifications

• Experience with OTDR-based fiber characterization and remote diagnostics.
• Ability to map fiber routes and identify splices, connectors, bends and faults.
• Strong documentation and reporting skills for remote testing results.

Responsibilities

• Read OTDR traces to map fiber paths and identify issues.
• Conduct CD/PMD, bi-directional tests, and power meter/laser assessments remotely.
• Perform fusion splicing on faulty fiber segments to minimize loss.
• Carry out fiber end-face inspection and cleaning as needed.
• Prepare test reports, redlined fiber path docs, and demarcation maps for stakeholders.
• Coordinate with vendors, project managers, and internal teams to manage schedules and SOWs.

Job Summary:

• We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Fiber Analyst to join our team and help technicians and engineers remotely.
• The successful candidate will be responsible to help technicians remotely for perform Fiber characterization, Bi-directional Testing, troubleshooting remotely on vendor Fiber networks, primarily within ISP & OSP environments.
• The role requires expertise in OTDR to validate Fiber paths remotely, identify issues, and provide remediation recommendations.
• As part of a small, dynamic remote team, you will have to prepare test packages remotely, manage project schedules, and collaborate with vendors, project managers, and internal teams to deliver high-quality results.

Key Responsibilities:

Help technicians and engineers in the field for Fiber Testing & Troubleshooting:

Read OTDR to map and analyse Fiber routes, identifying splices, connectors, bends, and faults along the Fiber path.

Help them Perform CD/PMD, Bi-directional testing and power meter/laser tests to assess Fiber integrity and bandwidth capabilities remotely.

Remediation & Repair: Based on test results, perform fusion splicing on problematic Fiber segments, ensuring minimal signal loss and optimal Fiber performance.

Help technicians and field engineers Conduct Fiber end-face inspection and cleaning as necessary.

Documentation & Reporting: Prepare comprehensive test reports remotely, redlined Fiber path documentation, and demarcation maps.

Document and report all findings, remediation efforts, and retest results to stakeholders, including vendors and project managers.

Vendor & Project Management Interface: Work closely with vendors remotely, project managers, and internal Fiber analysts to execute Statements of Work (SOWs) and provide timely feedback on Fiber network issues. Assist with scheduling, coordinating resources, and managing project timelines
