Job summary

Analog Devices, Inc. in Beaverton, Oregon seeks a hands-on FIB technician to perform FIB cross-sections and SEM imaging, support sample prep including TEM lift-out, and provide clear analyses to help engineers resolve urgent manufacturing issues.

You will manage requests from the online system, prioritize based on fab urgency, and collaborate with fab, process, product, and failure analysis teams while maintaining safety and cleanroom standards.

  • Prioritize requests based on fab urgency and work within a 6PM–6AM night shift with rotating Wednesdays to Saturdays.

Candidate Summary

This role is a hands-on FIB technician position supporting a semiconductor production fab, where speed, precision, and good judgment are critical. The technician performs FIB cross-sections and SEM imaging to help resolve urgent manufacturing issues, support process and tool qualifications, and provide clear analysis that helps engineering teams make decisions quickly. It is a strong fit for someone who enjoys technical lab work, can adapt to changing priorities, communicates well with engineers and requestors, and is interested in growing into additional advanced failure analysis techniques over time.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform FIB cross-sections and SEM imaging to evaluate process integrity, defect mechanisms, and structural characteristics on semiconductor devices.
  • Support additional sample preparation approaches, including TEM lamella lift-out, as needed and as experience develops.
  • Support the Production Fab through rapid physical analysis for tool and process qualification, lines down events, uncontained excursions, scrap disposition, and other high-priority production issues.
  • Manage work from the online request system by interpreting analysis needs, selecting appropriate approaches, identifying when additional techniques may be helpful, and clarifying ambiguous or incomplete requests directly with requestors.
  • Prioritize incoming requests based on fab urgency, business impact, and operational need while working within a night compressed work schedule that will include alternating Wednesdays and Thursday through Saturday coverage, 6PM to 6AM.
  • Partner with fab, process, product, and failure analysis teams to identify root cause, contain issues, and communicate clear analytical findings, risks, and recommendations to engineering stakeholders.
  • Maintain equipment, workflow readiness, and compliance with lab safety, cleanroom protocols, and operating standards while driving improvements in throughput, repeatability, and data quality.
  • For positions requiring access to technical data, Analog Devices, Inc. may have to obtain export licensing approval from the U.S. Department of Commerce - Bureau of Industry and Security and/or the U.S. Department of State - Directorate of Defense Trade Controls. The expected wage range for a new hire into this position is $38 to $53. Actual wage offered may vary depending on work location, experience, education, training, external market data, internal pay equity, or other bona fide factors.

This position qualifies for a discretionary performance-based bonus which is based on personal and company factors.
