Job summary

Locus Fermentation Solutions in Peoria, IL seeks a Production Supervisor to lead daily fermentation and downstream manufacturing, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant production of biotech products. This hands-on role manages production staff and contract labor, coordinates staffing, and maintains documentation in a 24/7 operation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Associate's degree in chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, microbiology, biotechnology, or a related field preferred; equivalent relevant manufacturing and leadership experience will be considered.
• Minimum of four years of experience in manufacturing, industrial operations, or maintenance, including demonstrated shift leadership.
• Experience in fermentation, biotechnology, chemical processing, or other process-driven manufacturing preferred.
• Demonstrated knowledge of GMP, SOPs, production documentation, deviation management, and continuous improvement practices preferred.
• Strong communication, organizational, problem-solving and decision-making skills.

Responsibilities

• Assists with setup, preparation, and ongoing operation of fermentation and downstream processing systems to meet production schedules and compliance requirements.
• Oversees and participates in fermentation manufacturing and downstream processing activities, coordinating technicians and contract labor.
• Monitors shift activities, production progress, and resource allocation to support objectives and quality.
• Ensures effective shift handoffs and communicates status, issues, and priorities to incoming personnel and stakeholders.
• Maintains knowledge of fermentation and facility systems to support safe, reliable operations and oversees night/weekend utilities.
