Job summary

dsm-firmenich AG is seeking a Director of Fermentation to lead the Belvidere fermentation plant, including a pilot plant, and to drive global product support through cross-functional teams. You will influence site strategy, safety culture, and process improvements while ensuring regulatory compliance and strong operational performance.

The role requires extensive manufacturing leadership experience, deep fermentation knowledge, and a track record of managing teams, with a focus on SHE standards

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years of experience in chemical/pharmaceutical manufacturing.
• ,
• Minimum 3 years of experience directly managing others.
• Knowledge of fermentation production processes.
• Strong knowledge of regulatory/compliance requirements.
• Safety first mindset.
• Bachelor of Science in Engineering or technical discipline; Master’s degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan, direct, and organize production process activities to ensure compliance with corporate and government standards and practices.
• Establish immediate and long-term operational, organizational, technical and maintenance strategy of operations to achieve site goals.
• Identify and oversee objectives and KPIs and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
• As a member of Site Leadership, formulate site goals aligned with global strategy and organizational constructs.
• Demonstrate leadership and adherence to Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) standards.
