Job summary

NorthWestern Energy is seeking a Hydro Compliance License Professional based in Montana. The role supports compliance activities related to FERC relicensing and regulatory requirements for fisheries, wildlife, and water quality.

You will assist with fieldwork at hydro facilities, prepare reports, and contribute to permit compliance and stakeholder engagement. The position requires a life sciences degree and relevant field experience, with travel across the hydro system and strong communication

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in life sciences required.
• 3 years of related work experience preferred.
• Experience conducting field work related to fisheries or water quality preferred.
• Knowledge of hydropower operations and effects on regulated river systems preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills required.
• Experience using computerized maintenance management programs and reporting tools preferred.
• Valid driver's license required.
• First Aid/CPR certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supports compliance activities related to FERC relicensing and regulatory requirements for fisheries, wildlife and water quality.
• Assists with fieldwork near hydroelectric facilities and related studies, sampling and reporting.
• Supports environmental management system and participates in TAC as needed.
• Interfaces with agencies, tribes, and stakeholders to implement license compliance activities.
• Prepares and submits compliance reports to meet regulatory requirements.
• Travel between offices and project sites; capable of lifting at least 50 pounds.
