Job summary

Yakima County Juvenile Court seeks a Female Only Juvenile Corrections Officer I to ensure safety and security for staff, youth and the facility. The role supports a secure booking process and gender-specific search procedures to protect privacy.

Responsibilities include supervising detainees, conducting searches, logging behavior, escorting youths, and responding to emergencies while maintaining facility security and compliance with procedures.

Qualifications

• Must be a female and at least 21 years of age.
• Valid WA State Driver License at time of employment.
• Criminal background checks, fingerprinting and related employment verifications.
• TB testing, WA Food Handler’s Permit and First Aid with CPR within 2 months.
• Able to work varied shifts in a 24-hour locked facility.

Responsibilities

• Provide safety and security in Yakima Juvenile Detention Facility and monitor juvenile detainees.
• Supervise activities, conduct searches, control entries and escort juveniles as needed.
• Maintain logs, prepare reports and respond to emergencies per procedures.
• Support court room security and ensure discipline and safety within the facility.
