Job summary

Butterfly Home Care is seeking enthusiastic Direct Support Professionals to provide in-home care for individuals with disabilities and aging adults. You will assist with daily living activities, reinforce independence, and accompany clients to community activities.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• At least 18 years of age.
• Experience in caregiving or human services preferred but not required.
• Compassionate, patient personality.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to follow care plans independently.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle.
• Ability to pass background checks and state screenings.
• Authorized to work in the United States.
• CPR/First Aid certification preferred or willing to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care to individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities.
• Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) including hygiene, grooming, dressing, and meals.
• Support individuals in achieving goals in service plans.
• Accompany clients to outings, appointments, and social events.
• Teach independent living, communication, and community integration skills.
• Maintain a safe, positive, supportive environment.
• Complete daily documentation, progress notes, and reports.
• Communicate with families, supervisors, and interdisciplinary team members.
• Follow agency policies, procedures, and state regulations.

Job Responsibilities:

• Provide direct care and support to individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities

• Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including personal hygiene, grooming, dressing, and meal preparation

• Support clients in achieving individualized goals outlined in their service plans

• Accompany clients to community outings, recreational activities, appointments, and social events

• Teach and reinforce independent living skills, communication skills, and community integration

• Maintain a safe, positive, and supportive environment

• Complete accurate daily documentation, progress notes, and required reports

• Communicate effectively with families, supervisors, and interdisciplinary team members

• Follow agency policies, procedures, and state regulations

Qualifications & Requirements:

• High School Diploma or GED required

• At least 18 years of age

• Previous caregiving, DSP, home care, healthcare, or human services experience preferred but not required

• Compassionate, patient, and reliable personality

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Ability to work independently and follow care plans

• Valid driver's license, reliable personal vehicle, and willingness to transport clients to community outings, appointments, recreational activities, and other community-based activities

• Ability to pass criminal background checks and any state-required screenings

• Authorized to work in the United States

• CPR/First Aid certification preferred (or willingness to obtain)
