Job summary

The Dougherty County District Attorney's Office is seeking an Assistant District Attorney to prosecute felony crimes within Dougherty County. The role requires a Juris Doctorate and substantial courtroom experience, with licensure to practice law in Georgia and a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

Prosecute felony crimes in Dougherty County in the Superior Court.
Supervise and evaluate assigned staff; direct work and performance appraisals.
Coordinate work, set schedules, ensure standards, and guide staff as needed.
Serve as counsel for the State of Georgia in felonies prosecuted in Dougherty County court.
Advocate for the State in appeals to the Georgia Court of Appeals and Supreme Court.
Review case files, determine proper disposition, and conduct trial preparation.
Prepare for trials by reviewing police/medical reports and consulting with police during pretrial stages.
Select cases for trial; respond to defense motions; interview witnesses; obtain and review evidence; research issues; represent at pre-trial motions.
Compile witness lists; issue subpoenas; arraign defendants; present cases to Grand Jury for indictment.
Perform related duties as assigned.
