Job summary

Friona Industries is seeking a Cattle Manager to work with the Feedyard Manager to prioritize and delegate daily Feedyard work. You will supervise staff, post research data, maintain herd health programs, and coordinate daily activities of part-time employees.

The role includes directing cattle handling, supervising crews, identifying cattle quality and health, and ensuring proper documentation of cattle received.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of Feedyard cattle processing programs including animal health and habits.
• Experience in managing employee labor, feeding, herd health and BQA.

Responsibilities

• Maintain communication with Feedyard manager regarding cattle handling and care
• Coordinate and direct supervision of all cattle handling crews
• Manage and motivate subordinate crew supervisors
• Perform discretionary decisions in the Feedyard Manager's absence
• Sort and order cattle per manager's specifications and requirements
• Schedule and place all Feedyard staff and coordinate their activities
• Maintain inventory of cattle in home pens and hospital pens
• Facilitate movements of cattle across the feedyard
• Structure and maintain an efficient Feedyard schedule
• Enforce safety policies and procedures
