Job summary

Smithfield Foods, Inc. is seeking a Feed Mill Operator in Virginia to tend, operate, and oversee all mill areas, ensuring quality, productivity, and safety. You will follow SOPs, operate equipment, and manage inventories while maintaining clean, safe work areas.

The role requires reading English documents, basic computer skills, and a willingness to learn multiple mill processes. A 50-hour week is typical, with night, holiday and weekend work as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Ability to read and understand safety and maintenance documents.
• Recognize critical areas of mill feed/ingredient systems.
• Ability to read and speak English.
• Basic computer skills desired.

Responsibilities

• Follow standard operating procedures for all operator areas.
• Operate equipment/tools (computer, grinders, forklift) in all areas.
• Prepare and maintain shift and production reports and samples.
• Regulate material flow to meet product specifications.
• Perform daily feed, bulk and micro ingredient inventories.
• Maintain cleanliness and assist co-workers across areas.
• Ensure safety of employees and assets; acquire needed certifications.
• Comply with environmental laws and Smithfield IPS/EMS policies.
• Report environmental issues and follow emergency notification procedures.
• Support ISO22000 Feed Safety and Quality program improvements.
