Job summary

Wayne-Sanderson Farms in Hazlehurst, MS, is seeking a hardworking feedmill operator to mix micro ingredients per formulas and stage them neatly for production. You will handle housekeeping, basic equipment maintenance, quality checks and ensure trucks depart with product accounted for.

The role requires following FSMA, GMP and company policies, documenting records accurately, and communicating with other production staff.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to perform basic math functions (proportions, percentages, area, volume).
• Basic computer knowledge and usage.

Responsibilities

• Mix and route feed according to formulas and schedule using batching equipment.
• Coordinate batching schedule with production personnel to maximize efficiency while following FDA, GMP and QC procedures.
• Complete and maintain reports, logs and documents neatly.
• Monitor and adjust equipment as needed.
• Use proper operating parameters to deliver a high quality product.
• Perform preventive maintenance and cleaning of equipment.
• Report equipment malfunctions to appropriate personnel.
• Maintain clean designated areas through routine housekeeping.
• Follow all company policies, FSMA regulations, and local, state and federal laws and regulations.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

Also responsible for preventing theft or loss of product ensuring trucks leave empty. Responsible for compliance with all company policies, FSMA regulations, and local, state and federal policies, laws and regulations.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:

• Mix and route feed according to formulas, procedures and schedule utilizing batching controller, mixing equipment, routing equipment, destination bins and downstream operations.
• Communicate and coordinate batching schedule and production with appropriate personnel maximizing efficiency while following FDA, GMP and QC procedures.
• Accurately complete and maintain assigned reports, logs and documents in a neat and orderly manner.
• Monitor and adjust equipment accordingly.
• Use proper operating parameters and equipment settings to effectively deliver a high quality product.
• Perform preventive maintenance and cleaning of equipment.
• Communicate equipment malfunctions to appropriate personnel.
• Perform routine housekeeping ensuring designated areas are kept clean.
• Comply with all company policies, FSMA regulations, and local, state and federal laws, and regulations.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to perform basic math functions (i.e. proportions, percentages, area, volume, etc.).

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• Previous feed mill experience.

SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:

• Follow departmental and company safety policies and programs.
• Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays and extended shift hours.
• Frequently stoop, kneel, crawl and bend.
• Frequently climb stairs and 50+ foot ladders.
• Ability to lift and carry 50 - 100 lbs.
• Ability to work in confined spaces.
• Constantly subject to dusty, hot environments.
• Frequently work in loud environment requiring ear protection.
• Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts.
• Ability to work at heights of 200+ ft.
