Job summary

South Central FS, Inc. is seeking a Feed Mill Manager to direct the daily operations of the feed manufacturing and delivery process, ensuring production of high quality feed and on-time delivery to the organization’s customers.

The role requires regulatory compliance with FDA, OSHA, DOT and related agencies, strong leadership of mill staff, inventory control, vendor coordination, and proactive cost management to support company profitability and sustainability.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership to all employees within the feed manufacturing department by establishing and communicating expectations, providing clear instructions and coordinating all production and delivery scheduling.
  • Oversee all feed production and delivery activities.
  • Establish and maintain an effective inventory control program to achieve budgeted targets.
  • Work with company vendors to ensure high quality, cost effective and value-added feed products.
  • Understand and ensure compliance with all transportation, environmental and feed production regulations and policies.
  • Direct all feed transportation operations with focus on bio-security, efficiency, value and timeliness.
  • Coordinate and monitor all feed production equipment, facility and truck maintenance/repairs.
  • Manage and maintain an adequate yet cost effective grain, ingredient and supplement inventory.
  • Maintain all required records related to production, drug/supplement usage and feed transportation.
  • Compare cost on tools, parts and materials needed for the department.
  • Prepare and monitor all feed production/transportation related budgeting and financial controls.
  • Provide information and recommendations to upper management related to feed production/transport and related cost reduction opportunities.
  • Develop and evaluate the efficiency of all related standard operating procedures and training regimens.
  • Develop, communicate and enforce all feed production and delivery related biosecurity rules and practices.
  • Administer an effective safety program to ensure safe equipment, a safe environment and policies/procedures that define safe work habits.
  • Participate as a contributing team member, in appropriate company-wide meetings and trainings.
  • Directly supervise employees and carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with company policies/procedures and applicable laws.
  • Successfully adhere to safety rules and company policies and procedures. EHS, EPA, OSHA, DOT and other regulatory agency policies and procedures must be adhered to at all times.
  • All other duties as assigned.

$80,000-$110,000

Purpose And Summary Statement

Responsible for directing the daily operations, the entire feed manufacturing and delivery process, and for producing and delivering high quality feed to the organization’s population. The Feed Mill Manager is responsible for ensuring compliance with all governmental regulations and agencies including the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). This position involves tight deadlines and scheduling, constant communication with upper management, vendors, and farm managers, feed truck drivers, mill technicians and feed sales specialists.

Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law. In addition to base pay, certain roles may be eligible for bonuses, incentives, and commissions.
