Job summary

Pilgrim’s in Georgia is seeking an Industrial Mechanic to repair and maintain all aspects of the feed mill facility, performing troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, and repairs on equipment. The role requires hands-on mechanical skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced production environment.

The successful candidate will work Monday–Friday 2:00 pm–10:00 pm, with on-call duties and occasional weekend work.

Qualifications

• Reading, general math and writing skills are required.
• Organized and able to multi-task.
• Basic mechanical skills and knowledge of standard and metric measurements.
• Minimum 1–2 years industrial maintenance experience.
• Knowledge of industrial manufacturing equipment.
• General knowledge of welding/fabrication.
• General knowledge of both low and high voltage electrical.
• Ability to work overtime including holidays, nights, and weekends.
• At least 18 years of age; legally allowed to work in the United States.
• Able to stand for several hours and work in varied indoor/outdoor conditions with PPE.
• Ability to work in elevated areas; lift up to 50 lbs.

Mechanic will safely and efficiently perform troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, and all tasks related to the maintenance of all feed mill equipment and facility. Typical tasks include troubleshooting and repairing components, testing, and working with production team members.

Responsibilities/Duties

• Construct, maintain and test mechanical equipment, machinery and components
• Identify parts or machines needing new or replacement parts
• Utilize shop mathematics to complete assignments
• Interpret drawings of equipment in order to properly adjust, maintain or repair machinery
• Respond to requests by production area when mechanical issues with equipment have been identified
• Communicate with production management and personnel to diagnose problems and to determine potential mechanical problems
• Perform preventive maintenance
• Complete assigned tasks with accuracy and efficiency, in regards to time as well as resources
• Other duties as assigned
• Operate fork lifts, loaders, scissor lifts, and aerial lifts

Required Skills/Qualifications

• Ability to perform physical job duties including bending, lifting up to 50 lbs., kneeling, climbing, crawling, and twisting, with or without reasonable accommodations

Preferred Knowledge/Skills

• General knowledge of boilers/steam systems
• General knowledge with programming technologies, such as programmable logic controllers (PLC) and variable frequency drives (VFD)
• Technical school preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent (GED) preferred.
