Asociación Puertorriqueños en Marcha (APM) seeks a part-time counselor for its Drug & Alcohol program in Philadelphia. You will provide counseling, complete intake assessments, and develop treatment plans for clients in a sensitive, compliant setting.

The role requires CAC/CDAC licensure, ASAM training, and bilingual English/Spanish abilities. The position involves coordination with clinicians and administrative duties to support program growth.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in human services or related field with 1 year of client experience.
  • CAC/CDAC licensed or qualified.
  • ASAM training completed.
  • Trained in Motivational Interviewing.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish.
  • Proficiency in DAP documentation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word.
  • Experience facilitating group therapy.
  • Experience with medication-managed populations.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide counseling services to DA program members.
  • Complete intake, treatment plans, evaluations, and discharges on time.
  • Provide individual and group therapies consistently and family therapy when needed.
  • Use ASAM evaluation at the beginning and at every treatment plan session.
  • Complete documentation on time as prescribed in policies.
  • Ensure all members provide UDS every week.
  • Coordinate with BHSI for clients without insurance.
  • Coordinate with Septa logistics care for bus passes for members.
  • Coordinate with Psychiatrist for evaluations and suboxone prescriptions.
  • Work with supervisor to complete required supervision hours and case consultations.
  • Ensure all charts are up to date and compliant with regulations.
  • Make referrals to appropriate levels of care based on ASAM criteria.
  • Maintain strong interagency relationships.
  • Maintain communication with other community treatment facilities and agencies.
  • Maintain a caseload as deemed appropriate.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings.
  • Maintain CE credits and trainings.
  • Provide training and supervision if more counselors are hired.
  • Provide updated FBI, PA criminal background, child abuse, CPSL and CPR clearances before start date.
  • Perform other program related duties as assigned.

Asociación Puertorriqueños en Marcha (APM) is a nonprofit organization in Philadelphia, PA providing human services to the community including early childhood education, foster care & adoption, child welfare, mental & behavioral health, community and economic development, housing, violence intervention, and services to community schools. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Provide counseling services to members in Drug & Alcohol program

2. Complete Intake, treatment plans, evaluations and discharges on time as prescribed in the policies

3. Provide Individual and group therapies consistently and family therapy when needs

4. Use ASAM evaluation at the beginning and at every treatment plan sessions

5. Complete documentation on time as prescribed in the policies and procedure manual

6. Ensure all members provide UDS every week without fail

7. Apply for BHSI for clients who doesn’t have insurance

8. Co-ordinate with Septa logistics care for bus passes for members to come to facility

9. Co-ordinate with Psychiatrist for evaluations, suboxone prescription for members and case consultations

10. Work closely with supervisor and complete required supervision hours and case consultations

11. Ensure all documentation and data are complete and in compliance with APM, city, state, and federal regulations

12. Makes referrals to appropriate levels of care based on ASAM criteria

13. Maintains strong interagency community, multidisciplinary and government agencies relationships.

14. Maintains ongoing communication with other community treatment facilities, primary care physicians, hospitals, schools, multidisciplinary units, and Probation/Parole officers, the Forensic Intensive Recovery (FIR) unit, etc. as necessary.

15. Maintains a caseload that supervisor deemed appropriate in your full time position

16. Participate in meetings with the agency interdisciplinary team as clinically necessary.

17. Participate and maintain required CE credits and other mandatory trainings

18. Ensure all charts are up to date

19. Actively engage in program expansion and development

20. Works closely with the Clinical Director and set quarterly targets and achieve them

21. Must be able to provide training and supervision if more counselors are hired for DA program

23. Provides updated FBI, PA criminal background, child abuse, CPSL and CPR clearances before the start date

25. Performs other program related duties as assigned by the Clinical Director.

  • Self-motivated and take proactive steps to develop and expand DA program under the supervision of Director
  • Ability to take initiative and collaborate with other resources, agencies, hospitals and judiciary system in the community
  • Represent APM Drug & Alcohol program with pride and joy
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s Degree in the human services or related field with a minimum of 1-year work experience with clients in a rehabilitation, social services, mental health or related services.
  • CAC, CDAC licensed or qualified
  • Completed ASAM training
  • Trained in Motivational Interviewing
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)
  • Proficiency in the DAP documentation
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Word
  • Experience in facilitating group therapy
  • Working with medication managed populations
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
