Job summary

The Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education (ORISE) invites applicants for a federally funded fellowship with NIH ODSS to build a federated, AI-aware data ecosystem. Fellows will work on data resources, governance, and privacy-preserving techniques under mentorship, in a collaborative NIH setting.

Eligible candidates hold a master’s or doctoral degree in a relevant field, are 18+, and may include current graduate students who complete their degrees by start date.

Qualifications

• Requirements: 18 years or older at application, master's or doctoral degree in a relevant field.
• Degree must have been earned within the last five years of appointment start date.
• Current graduate students nearing degree completion may apply but must have completed degrees at start date.
• Citizenship: US citizens, Lawful Permanent Residents (LPR), and certain foreign nationals per guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Gain hands-on experience with NIH and ODSS data resources for discovery, harmonization, and analysis.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to define criteria for success and impact in federated research programs.
• Receive training in science policy translation, governance frameworks, and privacy-preserving methods for NIH-wide data ecosystems.
• Engage with the scientific and stakeholder community to exchange ideas and insights.
