The John M. Lilley Library at Penn State Behrend is seeking Federal Work-Study Student Library Assistants for the Fall 2026 / Spring 2027 semesters. Candidates must be eligible for a Federal Work-Study award.

Responsibilities include assisting patrons, shelving materials, providing reference services, and working flexible shifts. An hourly rate of $12.00 is offered. This position allows students to gain valuable work experience while managing their studies.

• Assist library patrons at the circulation desk
• Shelve library materials and maintain the integrity of the library’s collections
• Process incoming and outgoing mail
• Provide basic reference services and assist staff in other service areas
• Work flexible shifts (weekday, evening, and occasional Sundays) based on class schedule
• Collaborate with other student library assistants to maintain staffing levels during library hours

Qualifications

• Current work‑study award status
• Strong commitment to teamwork, excellent customer‑service and communication skills
• Ability to work flexible shifts, including evenings and Sunday hours as required
• Good organizational and problem‑solving skills

Compensation

Hourly rate: $12.00 per hour.
