Federal Tax Advisory- Research Credits Tax Manager

Our Federal Tax Advisory- Core practice offers innovative solutions to major organizations, middle market, and private companies. As part of our FTA team, you will tackle complex tax issues, develop effective strategies, and identify cash tax savings opportunities in areas such as FDII, BEAT, GILTI, R&D credits, and more.

The opportunity

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Serve clients across various industries, supporting project management and data analysis.
  • Analyze large datasets, evaluate laws and regulations, and collaborate with subject matter experts.
  • Provide guidance to associates and support client engagements.
  • Work directly with managers and partners to deliver high-quality client service and foster team development.

Skills And Attributes For Success

  • Effective client delivery approaches and independent thinking to identify new opportunities.
  • Assist in executing engagements and conducting tax research.
  • Manage projects proactively to ensure timely, quality deliverables.
  • Build client relationships and develop industry knowledge.
  • Guide and mentor team members, stay current on technical trends, and leverage emerging technologies like SharePoint, Power BI, Power Pivot, Power Query, and Alteryx.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, MIS, or related, with ~6 years of experience, or a graduate degree with ~5 years of experience.
  • Valid US Enrolled Agent, CPA, or attorney license.
  • Experience in tax research, data analysis, and working with large datasets.
  • Strong managerial, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, Access, and data mining tools.
  • Willingness to travel and work in a hybrid environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with IRS tax controversy, statistical sampling, and data analytics tools like Power BI, Alteryx.
  • Big 4 experience, certifications in Alteryx or Microsoft products, and advanced degrees are a plus.
