Job summary

NASAA, the North American Securities Administrators Association, is seeking a Senior Director of Policy Strategy & Government Relations in Washington, DC. You will shape NASAA’s federal policy agenda, supervise a team, and engage with Congress, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders across the nation.

You will coordinate with the General Counsel, Managing Director of Legal & Policy, and NASAA leadership to advance rules affecting securities regulation, investor protection, and capital

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree required; advanced degree (JD, Master’s, MBA) preferred.
• At least 10 years of relevant full-time professional experience in capital markets regulation, with 6+ years on financial services issues on Capitol Hill.
• Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience.
• Experience with legislative tracking and analysis at state and federal levels.
• Expertise in securities or financial services regulation.
• Experience with emerging technologies (AI, blockchain, or distributed ledger) is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Advise NASAA’s Board, Executive Director, and Federal Legislation Committee Chair on federal policy matters with strategic impact.
• Analyze federal legislation and regulatory landscapes to guide NASAA’s mission.
• Develop legislative priorities and advocacy materials on securities laws and investor protection.
• Coordinate with General Counsel and leadership to align regulatory proposals.
• Supervise tracking and reporting of federal and state legislative developments.
• Assess impact of proposed legislation at federal and state levels to inform leadership decisions.
• Provide strategic input on communications to advance NASAA’s priorities.
• Liaise with NASAA committees and external stakeholders on policy matters.
• Lead engagement with Congress, staff, and federal agencies; prepare testimony and letters.
