Planet Technologies is seeking a highly motivated Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE) to support federal sector projects. You will integrate security into the SDLC and act as the security engineering authority to achieve and maintain Authority to Operate (ATO).

The role focuses on applying NIST RMF controls, developing SSPs/SARs/POA&Ms, and ensuring secure system design, testing, and sustainment across lifecycle stages.

Formación

• Bachelor’s degree requirement and 8+ years’ federal SDLC security integration experience.
• Security certifications: CISSP, ISSEP, Security+, CASP+/SecurityX, CISM, CSSP.

Responsabilidades

• Integrate security engineering principles, requirements, and controls into the SDLC.
• Serve as the primary security engineering authority supporting system owners, ISSOs, and development teams for Authorization to Operate (ATO).
• Identify and document information security requirements during system design and participate in reviews to mitigate risks.
• Support categorization, selection, implementation, and assessment of security controls under NIST SP 800-53/RMF; develop SSPs, SARs, and POA&Ms for ATO packages.
• Engineer and validate technical security controls (access control, auditing, encryption, boundary protection) and conduct or support security testing to verify control effectiveness.
• Review system configurations against DISA STIGs; support vulnerability management and remediation prioritization; assess security impact of changes.
• Prepare technical security documentation and advise ISSOs, program managers, and developers throughout the system lifecycle.
