Job summary

WSP is seeking a Federal Interior Designer to join the Arlington, VA office. The role supports design across programming through construction administration and involves FF&E, detailed drawings, and presentation graphics.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Interior Design, or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of relevant post-education interior design experience.
  • 5+ years proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD and rendering programs.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Familiarity with building codes, standards, and construction management.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret security clearance.
  • U.S. citizenship is required due to client requirements.
  • Proficient in design development, visualization, and technical drawing production.
  • Strong verbal and written communication; able to present complex concepts.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and long hours.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally.
  • Preference for DoD/federal project experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in all project phases of design including Programming, Schematic Design, Design Development, Construction Documentation, and Construction Administration.
  • Assist with FF&E specification throughout interior design work.
  • Develop and document interior spaces: floor plans, reflected ceiling plans, finish plans, elevations, schedules, and details.
  • Research products and finishes as directed.
  • Prepare technical specifications per project requirements and industry standards.
  • Coordinate design activities with architecture, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, life safety, security, telecom disciplines.
  • Ensure compliance with codes and ADA requirements.
  • Prepare presentation boards.
  • Maintain Revit library and create new Revit families.
  • Prepare computerized renderings and other presentation graphics.
  • Maintain the interior design library with materials.
  • Coordinate with vendors for product presentations and Lunch & Learns.
  • Order samples and materials from vendors.
  • Continuously expand knowledge through learning and industry engagement.
  • Exercise responsible decision-making regarding funds, resources, and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
