Job summary

City of Indianapolis is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to assist the Chief Engineer in overseeing design of federally funded transportation, environmental, traffic and stormwater projects in Marion County. The role manages Senior Project Managers and Project Managers and ensures compliance with statutes, specs, and contracts.

Qualifications

• PE license in Indiana required.
• Minimum 5 years of Civil Engineering experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• Knowledge of City, State, and FHWA policies and specs for design/construction.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong technical writing skills.
• Experience with CAD preferred.
• Experience supervising and performing QA/QC.
• Understanding INDOT/LPA/MPO relationship and federally funded project design process.

Responsibilities

• Assist Chief Engineer in overseeing the design of federal multimodal, transportation, structural, and stormwater projects.
• Serve as project manager for federally funded projects and supervise staff.
• Perform QA/QC of plans, specifications and construction cost estimates.
• Support public meetings as needed.
• Ensure design activity is on schedule and within budget and in accordance with current statutes, ordinances, specifications and contract requirements.
• Work cooperatively with consultants and staff to complete projects.
